From Easter onwards, our calendar can become quite full as we travel about to fetes, fairs and country shows promoting greyhounds as pet.  This is a very important part of our charity’s activities, as without making people aware of the delights of owning a greyhound, we wouldn’t have any homes for them to go to!  It is also lovely to meet people and hear about their pets past and present and catch up with some of our ex inmates who have become part of their owners family.  Last year a number of schools invited us to attend their school fetes and we were only too happy to oblige.  We have our own trailer and gazebos and always take a couple of dogs with us, which the kids absolutely love.  If any school or organization would like to invite us to one of their events please do not hesitate to call us on 01621 788315.  We do not make a charge to come along, indeed we welcome the chance for people to see what lovely pets greyhounds make  We also sell a very small selection of merchandise and hand out information leaflets.

Sorry kids, we can only take bookings from adults.

The first charity golf day In aid of Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue was held on Thursday, 25th October.  Benton Hall Golf and Country Club in Witham was the chosen venue and they laid on a really good day for us.  The weather was bit murky to start, but it didn’t deter the participants from having a thoroughly enjoyable round of golf followed by an excellent meal, raffle and prize giving.   Over £1,100 was raised which will be used to improve the food preparation area at the kennels.  A big thank you to Sue Ward, one of our volunteers, who arranged the event. Sue organised competitors,  competitions, the prizes, and did public relations throughout the day.  We’d also like to thank Shane Diles and his staff at Benton Hall for helping to make the day such a success.   We are already looking forward to next year’s golf day – so watch this space!!

We’d like to thank Liz Cardy of Colchester, who organized a Junk Jamboree and Vintage Craft Market.  Liz donated the entry fees to Clarks Farm and raised a fantastic total.  Liz was so pleased with the success the event and the number of people who turned up that she is organising another one for Saturday, 4th August 2012. It will be at Cardinal Bourne Hall, Priory Street, Colchester, Essex. CO1 2QB.  11.00am-4.00pm. As well as vintage and craft stalls, there will also be live music, and a vintage tea room.

All entry proceeds to Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue.

A huge thank you to Pets at Home and particularly the Managers and Staff at the Colchester branch, who so kindly arranged to have a pallet of food donated to the kennels. The dogs have really enjoyed the variety on offer. _____________________________________________________________
