Maldon and Tiptree Branch
Our opening hours are Thursday- Sunday 10am - 4pm
Open 7 days a week for Boarding
Thousands of Greyhounds retire from racing every year. Some are less than two years old; the majority are aged around three and four. Many people do not realise that greyhounds make excellent family pets. They are gentle, loving and adapt to home life easily. Contrary to common belief they are actually very lazy and only need two 20 minute walks each day. When re-homed responsibly they can live with other breeds of dogs and other pets such as cats.
Why not consider one as your next family dog?
All of our greyhounds are neutered, fully vaccinated, flea & worm treated and micro-chipped. We also provide 4 weeks free pet insurance, a leather collar & lead, muzzle and a bowl. It costs an average of £388 to rehome a greyhound, so we ask for a minimum donation of £125, all of your donation will go to rehoming another greyhound.
Our expert team at the kennels can work with you to match the right greyhound to your circumstances, as all our greyhounds are socialised and cat tested prior to re-homing.
We are open from Thursdays - Sundays from 10am- 4pm for dog viewing.
Please call the kennels to arrange a visit 01621 788315
Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue is a registered charity in its own right and is the Maldon and Tiptree branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust. Working alongside the Retired Greyhound Trust and Friends of Crayford Retired Greyhounds we take in ex racing/ retired greyhounds and find permanent loving homes for them.
Sandra and Steve bought Clarks Farm in 1999, since then Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue has come on leaps and bounds from homing around 20 dogs in 2003 to over 250 in 2006 and then homing 300 in 2009. This is entirely due to the hard work, dedication and commitment of Steve and Sandra.
As well as setting up a sister branch Dorset Greyhound Rescue, a new additional kennel block has now been built in Essex which can house up to 50 dogs. A veterinary clinic has also bee added, so there is a vet on site to perform neutering operations. The vet also provides a veterinary service to the general public. In 2015 we opened Rainbows Rest pet Crematorium.
Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue was broadcasted on Sky TV in a documentary called 'The Dogs'.
A copy of this broadcast is now on you tube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=632F78JxL-U. If you are considering offering a greyhound a home this will be of great interest in finding out what it is like when you first bring a greyhound into your family.
